Why does one have a branding session? Weeeellll.... When Kaitlyn of Top Shelf reached out about a branding session for her new space... I asked what she was looking for in her session? She explained that her personality was straight forward, LOVED heavy metal music, and being creative with her hair cutting. My wheels started to spin with ideas for this session. I asked some more questions and soon found out that she LOVED going to concerts and has a lot of signed band memorabilia. That's it!!! Bring it along to your session is what I told her!
I had the vision of an edgy, heavy metal inspired aesthetics that trades societies normal expectations for grit, texture and a bit of attitude with a smile! The vision of one stepping into her barbershop with the feel of not a service space but, one of being like a stage. The goal of this session was not to show hair services.. It was to capture an identity. Her tools became props. Clippers, scissors and straight edge razors are not just tools they were extension of her brand.
What made this session stand out wasn't just the visual vibe. It was the mood that she brought to the session, the lighting and location. Her images carry a cinematic, almost rebellious tone to them. Her branding speaks directly to a specific clientele. One who wants more then just a haircut or shave. One that wants and experience, statement, an identity.
Enjoy Kaitlyn Photos!
