Ambient Photography's 5 year Anniversary Mother and Child Mini

2018 marks the 5 year anniversary of the conception of Ambient Photography. I normally am a bit reserved on sharing about my personal life... But, since I get to know each and everyone of you on a personal level through your experience with Ambient Photography. I thought I would share with you a little how Ambient came to fruition. 

As a child I had always loved to study the composition of a photograph. My father encouraged me to study in the field of photography post my high school education. I went on to continue my education in the field of Occupational Therapy rather. It wasn't until my beautiful daughters where born that I had really enjoyed taking photos. As a new Mother, I held many developed photos of my children in my possession.  With photos in hand I became instantly obsessed with scrapbooking my girls every move. During my new form of relaxation and creativity outlet... I always wanted my photos to look like the ones that were captured in my scrapbooking magazines. Simply stunning and breath taking shots being captured. Through the earlier years of my daughters growing I did not have the time or energy to pursue any form of accredited photography education. As I was already working towards a year long geriatric certification in the Occupational Therapy realm.  As all young parent life is crazy and stressful we decided as a family that we were going to take a family in vacation... a Disney cruise to Alaska. At this time I had an entry level DSLR that I had no clue what all the functions of all the buttons held. I came across a water photography class being offered by NWTC in Algoma.  I thought what a better way to get to take better photos while on a cruise. This is where my photography journey all started... The instructor (Paul) of the water photography class and I instantly hit it off.. Through the years I have been blessed to have Paul in my life as an AMAZING mentor, role model, friend and the one who pushes me to my limits. I never imagined that from just taking one class that I would be hooked and 2 years later Ambient Photography was introduced to the world.

During this life changing time in my life. My Father pushed me on the business side, my Mother with all her craftiness continues to this day to be the key player behind all the homemade props, As well she does a lot of the behind the scenes of the day to day operations. My girls have become my assistance during my sessions. They have learned more about photography then I ever think they have wanted to know. LOL  My husband has been known to assist with heavy moves of furniture on location and from time to time construct desired props as well. My countless friends that I met during my photography journey and lifelong friends that continue to encourage and push me on a daily basis... I will forever be grateful!

As many of you know the past couple years I have been truly blessed to have been able to study throughout the United States under the Best of the Best this field has to offer. Which I am forever grateful for these opportunites.

But, Most of all I thank each and everyone of you for your continues support and for believing in me as your photographer!!!
